There’s an undercurrent of egalitarianism flowing through everything Burning Man does. They go to great lengths to promote inclusiveness to the degree of conceptually surpassing the most leftist democratic ideals.
Politically charged organizations tend to chase anything that conveys correctness and Burning Man is no exception, at times most closely resembling the government it rebels against. Every time something like this happens, it exhibits a special fascination, for this is supposed to be an effort bred and maintained as a counter-culture and performing in any sense of status quo is supposed to be antithetical.
